About the Webservant

Once upon a time, there was a little old lady who retired after 45 years as an Organist; 25 of those years had been as Head Organist for Christ Lutheran Church.  She had also retired from Federal Civil Service as an Air Force Budget Analyst some two years earlier.  No, she's not a member of the staff -- just someone who felt called to serve God in a unique way.

Joyce Kuhl was born in Alma, Missouri, a LONG time ago, the daughter of Harry and Dora Bredehoeft.  She spent her teenage years in Higginsville, Missouri, which is where she began Organist duties at the age of 13.  In 1962, she began her career as an Air Force civilian employee at Richards-Gebaur AFB.  She also began a second career as an "Air Force wife" on her marriage to E. G. (Ed) Holeman.  They became the parents of four sons (Russ, Terry, Mark, and Kevin) during assignments at Royal Air Force Station Bentwaters, England, and then Reese Air Force Base, Texas.  Ed received his Crown of Life April 23, 1985.  After 35 years of service to the Air Force, Joyce retired on January 3, 1997.  On March 1, 1997, she began still another career as she married Ronald L. Kuhl, also an Air Force retiree, and became the stepmother of two daughters (Amy Lazerson and Emily Kuhl).  Ron received his Crown of Life January 4, 1999.  Her retirement days are spent traveling, gardening, enjoying her eight grandchildren, and serving Christ Lutheran Church and Lubbock's Lutheran Social Services of the South (LSSS) agencies (Neighborhood House and Wedgewood South Assisted Living).
