David and Jan Harrison became members of our Church family May 9, 2010.  Jan is the daughter of Verna Mae and the late Adolph Herzog who were charter members of our congregation.  They were formerly members at Calvary Lutheran Church (ELCA) in Richland Hills, but Jan was baptized and confirmed at Christ; she and David were married at Christ a little more than 30 years ago.  We're happy to have them back in our family.

Aaron Jackson received an "Outstanding Bandsman" award in May, 2010, for "going above and beyond" in the words of Evans Middle School Band Director, Jodie Rhodes.  Aaron and his Mother, Lynn, are shown as they played with the Evans Middle School Band on "Faculty vs. the Band".  

 

CONGRATULATIONS, RODNEY!

Congratulations go to Rodney Donahue for winning the Texas Educational Theatre Association, Inc.'s PlayFest award for a play written by a college/university student.  His play follows the lives of three individuals responsible for creating the Corporate Ladder, the most successful private company in the United States.  When their personal desires come into direct conflict with one another, will they survive the inevitable collision unscathed?  The play will be performed February 8 - 14 at the Texas Tech University Lab Theatre.  Rodney is a PhD student at TTU.

NEW MEMBERS, NOVEMBER 22, 2009

Spiritual Board Director Jim McDonald welcomed Ken and Candy Schoppa as new members.  Ken and Candy transferred to Christ from Redeemer Lutheran Church here in Lubbock.  You'll want to meet them!
In a private service on November 22, 2009, August Henry Ramsey was received into God's kingdom by Holy Baptism.  August is the son of Derrick and Staci Ramsey, and he was baptized by Pastor David Rohde of St. Paul Lutheran Church in Wilson TX.

 

SIX NEW MEMBERS JOINED OUR FAMILY MAY 31, 2009

On Pastor Paul's final Sunday at Christ Lutheran Church before he entered into retirement, he confirmed four adults and received two other members by transfer.
This was most fitting for the Day of Pentecost, May 31, 2009.

Allen Graham was received by Confirmation.  He's shown here with his wife, Kim, and daughters, Kendall and Kailee Kelby McGuire was received by Confirmation, and his wife, Petra, was received by transfer from Lockwood MO. Derrick Ramsey was received by Confirmation.  Shown with him is his wife, Staci Glenna Warrick was received by Confirmation and her husband, Bob, was  received by transfer from Dallas TX.

 

LAUREN LANE HOLLOWAY BAPTISM

Lauren Lane Holloway, daughter of Rachel Holloway and Mark Holloway, was received into God's kingdom through Holy Baptism, May 10, 2009. 

TWO NEW MEMBERS RECEIVED BY TRANSFER

Kirk and Rachele Duncan greeted worshipers after they were received into membership on November 16, 2008.  Kirk transferred from Christ Lutheran Church in Amarillo; Rachele transferred from Emmanuel Lutheran Church in Littlefield.  Welcome to our family!

ALEXA KATHERINE GRACE JENNINGS BAPTIZED

Alexa Katherine Grace Jennings was received into God's Kingdom through Holy Baptism on October 12, 2008.  Alexa is the daughter of Brooks and Becky Jennings.

Jacob David Holland, son of Mr. and Mrs. David Holland and grandson of James Holland, was received into God's Kingdom through Holy Baptism during the 8:30 AM service, February 10, 2008. Tatum Jane North, daughter of Dr. and Mrs. Josh North and granddaughter of Dr. and Mrs. Gary Schwede, was received into God's Kingdom through Holy Baptism during the
11:00 AM service, February 10, 2008.

JACOB SCIVALLY RECEIVED THE GOD AND COUNTRY AWARD
July 1, 2007

Jacob Scivally received his Scouting God and Country Award from his father, John (and Scout Leader), following the late service, Sunday, July 1, 2007.

Here, Jacob is also joined by Pastor Paul and his mother, Heather, and brother, Brian.

NEW MEMBERS

Three new members were received on December 2, 2007.  Brittany Danielle Burns received the rites of Holy Baptism and Confirmation.  Jessica Lynne Donahue was received by Confirmation, and her husband, Rodney, was received by transfer from Friends in Christ Lutheran Church, Morris IL.  We welcome all of them to Christ's family!
Camryn Avery Howe was received into the Holy Christian faith through Baptism on November 18, 2007.  She is the daughter of Tom and Jennifer Howe.
Zane Ryder Dodson was received into the Kingdom of God by Holy Baptism on November 11, 2007.  He is the son of Kris and Tami Dodson.
Rhett Kleinschmidt, new member who recently transferred from St. John Lutheran Church, New Orleans LA, was welcomed by Anne Brann after the late service, March 25, 2007.
Carter Steven Greenwood was received into the Holy Christian faith through Baptism on February 25, 2007.  He is the son of Steven and Shantelle Greenwood.

Shawn and Holly Haseloff were received into membership on February 18, 2007.  They transferred from St. Paul Lutheran Church, Plainview TX.  We welcome them to our family!

We rejoice that our numbers increased by six on October 15, 2006.  The following people were received into membership through the rite of Confirmation:  Forrest and Marky Edwards, Scott and William Harris, and David Spriggs.  Also new to our membership is Beka Harris, daughter of Scott Harris.  Welcome to Christ's Family!

Barbara Rose presented a gift from the local Thrivent Chapter to David Spriggs after his confirmation in the 8:30 service. PRESENTATION OF PROCESSIONAL CROSS

On Sunday, October 1, 2006, Amanda King of Edmond OK, granddaughter of Charles and Beverly King, presented a processional cross given in memory of Charles King by Beverly and her family.  In the photo at right, Amanda and Beverly are in the center; at left are Jeff, Delonia, and Elizabeth King of Edmond OK; at right are Joyce, Don, Katie, and Jacob Evans. 

ADULT BAPTISM

We rejoice that David Michael Spriggs, a student at Texas Tech, was welcomed into God's Kingdom through the Sacrament of Holy Baptism on September 24, 2006. 

TEEN OF THE MONTH

Austin Limmer, a member of Christ Lutheran Church and son of Artie and Beverly Limmer, was chosen April, 2006, Teen of the Month for Lubbock High School.  Austin is the student body Vice President, a member of the Student Council, and a state qualifier as a member of the varsity swim team.  Congratulations, Austin!

2006 TEXAS ACADEMIC DECATHLON REGION 1 COMPETITION

Haley Schwede, a member of Christ Lutheran Church and Senior at Coronado High School, achieved second place in team super quiz at the recent Regional Academic Decathlon in Midland.  Her team earned a berth at the State meet February 24 - 25.  Congratulations, Haley, and good luck at the State competition!

TEEN OF THE MONTH

Jonathan Rushing, a member of Christ Lutheran Church and son of Rudi and Barbara Rushing, was chosen February Teen of the Month for Mackenzie Junior High School.  Jonathan is in the 9th grade and is a member of the football and wrestling teams.  Congratulations, Jonathan!

Our Christ Lutheran Church family grew by 8 members on Sunday, June 19, 2005 -- one by infant Baptism, one by adult Baptism and Confirmation, four more by adult Confirmation, one by reaffirmation of faith, and one by transfer.

Campbell Elise Howe, daughter of Tom and Jennifer Howe was received into God's kingdom through Holy Baptism. Blake Christie was confirmed.  He is shown with his long-time special friend, Lindsey Gentry. George Darby was confirmed.  He is the husband of Marilyn Darby Shanna Friday was confirmed.  Her husband, Dave, was received into membership by Reaffirmation of Faith.

TEEN OF THE MONTH

Congratulations to Tanner Borchardt on his selection as Irons Junior High's Teen of the Month for May, 2005.  He is a National Honor Society member, a Life Rank Boy Scout, and treasurer of his youth group (Christ Lutheran Church Lutheran Youth Fellowship).  He is also involved in football, basketball, and track.

2005 TEXAS ACADEMIC DECATHLON STATE COMPETITION

Emily Korinek, a member of Christ Lutheran Church and Senior at Lubbock High School, had two perfect scores and won seven individual medals, leading Lubbock High to a fourth place finish during the 2005 Texas Academic Decathlon State Meet for large schools on February 26, 2005.  Click here to read the rest of the Lubbock Avalanche-Journal article.  Congratulations, Emily!

TEEN OF THE MONTH

Congratulations to Allison Korinek on her selection as the O. L. Slaton Junior High Teen of the Month for December, 2004.  She is a member of the National Junior Honor Society, the all-region band, and is involved in diving.

NATIONAL MERIT SCHOLARSHIP SEMI-FINALIST

Emily Korinek, senior at Lubbock High School and a member of Christ Lutheran Church, was recently selected as a National Merit Scholarship Semi-Finalist.  She has also been selected for the All-Region Choir!

SPECIAL WEDDING ANNIVERSARIES

Two of our couples recently celebrated 50th wedding anniversaries.  Charles and Beverly King were married April 18, 1954 and held their celebration on June 6, 2004 with a reception in the Fellowship Hall.  On hand to congratulate them were Travis and Joy Simpson who were married June 8, 1954, and celebrated in New Mexico with their family.

MILITARY ACADEMY APPOINTMENT
The United States Air Force Academy has announced the appointment of Clinton Borchardt, a Lubbock High School senior, to the Class of 2008.  Congratulations, Clinton!

ACADEMIC DECATHLON STATE MEET
Emily Korinek is a member of the Lubbock High School team who will compete in the Texas Academic Decathlon 2004 State Meet in San Antonio, February 27 - 28, 2004.  She was recently selected as the highest Lubbock High honor student in the regional competition, receiving first place awards in essay, economics, Super Quiz and honor overall; seconds in math, music, and language; and thirds in interview, speech, and art.

Congratulations to Jared Masood on being named Mr. South Plains College and Outstanding Male Sophomore Law Enforcement Student!
